^ PRAYER FOCUS : MALAWI

Dr Donald Brownlie died last Sunday 29th August.  Donald served as Medical Missionary at the David Gordon Memorial Hospital in Livingstonia in Northern Malawi until his retirement last year.  Remember Una and the family as they mourn Donald’s passing.

^ AUTUMN FAIR, FRIDAY 10TH SEPTEMBER, 7.30PM (MAIN HALL)

Admission: Adults £1.50 / Children 50p (including tea)

ALL PROCEEDS IN AID OF MAINTENANCE OF PROPERTY FUND.

It is hoped that the congregation will generously support this annual venture by giving fruit, flowers, plants, vegetables, cakes, jams, books, CD’s, videos and good bric-a-brac.  We would welcome items with a higher value with a reserve price.  These may be left in the halls on Thursday evening, 6.30-8.30pm or Friday morning, 10.30am-12.30 & 2-4pm.  Your level of support and attendance will determine the success of this event.  Please pick up and return the quiz sheets.

^ SUDAN APPEAL

During the month of August a total of £2727.70 was given to the Sudan Appeal and these funds have been sent to Church House.  Thank-you to all who so generously contributed.

 

^ UNION THEOLOGICAL COLLEGE, 108 BOTANIC AVENUE, BELFAST

Heart to Heart: this 12-week course begins on 16 September and will run on Thursday mornings from 10.00am to 12.45pm.  It is designed especially for women with the aim of deepening understanding of the Bible and developing listening skills.  The course will be led by Desi Alexander and Lynne Livingstone (Christian Listeners Ireland).

Digging Deeper: a 6-week course aimed at teaching people how to study the Bible for themselves through observing, interpreting and applying God’s Word.  The course runs on Monday evenings, 7.30pm to 9.30pm beginning 13 September and will be led by Gwen Davis of Evangelical Ministries.

Renovation of the Heart: a 6-week course led by Rev Tom Wilson (Kilmakee Presbyterian Church).  This course, based on the book Renovation of the Heart by Dallas Willard, seeks to explore how we can be transformed into the likeness of Christ.  It will run on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm to 9.30pm beginning 16 September.

Effective Small Groups: this 5-week course, aimed at equipping leaders to explore the potential of small groups, will take place on Monday evenings, 7.45pm to 9.45pm beginning 20 September.  David Millen and Chris Hollies of Evangelical Ministries will facilitate the course.
