  PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK

We will remember in our prayers the leaders and girls in our Rainbows, Brownies and Girl Guides.

  PRAYER FOCUS: MIDDLE EAST

Hopes of peace were boosted when Mahmoud Abbas was elected as Palestinian president earlier this month after the death of Yassir Arafat.  The week before last, however, Palestinian militants attacked a crossing post between Israel and Gaza, and Israel’s Prime Minister Ariel Sharon broke off all contacts with Abbas, accusing him of failing to rein in the militants.  Abbas called for an end to violence on both sides and for a resumption of peace talks.  On 20th January, Prime Minister Sharon lifted the ban on contacts, and Israeli and Palestinian officials have since met to discuss security co-ordination and to look at the possibility of restarting peace talks.  Please pray for efforts to build peace and for all those affected by violence.

  HAPPY BIRTHDAY – 100 TODAY!

We send our congratulations to Mr Allan Hill of 33 Waterloo Park North who celebrates his 100th birthday today 30th January.  He lives with his daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Wilbert Bennett.

Have you ever thought of going yourself?

All you need is to organise your own transport from here to Hanover and pay the Registration Fee (which gives you the complete programme, includes free entry to most events and free transport on local buses, underground and trains), B&B is free and provided by local families!  Foreign visitors are offered private accommodation from Tuesday 24th May and you may stay until the following Monday.  Registration for individuals is now open and must be in the Hanover Office by 31st March 2005.
