Have you any memoirs of ‘yesteryear’ or the ‘good old days’ that you would like to share with the congregation – or interesting stories from the not so distant past?  If so, the editor would like to publish them in the church magazine.  Should there be sufficient interest we would also like to put them together in booklet form for posterity, along with some stories that have already appeared in Insight.  If you wish your name to be remembered down through the years this is your chance.  Interested?  Contact Noel McGuiggan 028 9085 3965.

 

GENERAL ASSEMBLY WEEK: Monday 5TH to Friday 9TH JUNE 2006

·       Monday 5th June 7.00pm – Opening Service of Worship and election of Moderator. (Broadcast live on BBC Radio Ulster). 

The Assembly will be addressed by outgoing Moderator Dr Harry Uprichard and incoming Moderator Dr David Clarke.

·       Tuesday’s Communion Service at 12 noon in the Assembly Hall is open to all communicants.

·       Daily public worship held on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 12.15pm.

·       The Moderator’s Rally on Wednesday at 7.45pm – guest speaker:

Rev Hugh Palmer from All Souls, London.

 

 

SECOND GLOBAL DAY OF PRAYER

Today, Pentecost Sunday 4th June 2006.  Transformations Ireland will be hosting this event in the grounds of Stormont Estate from 3.00pm to 5.30pm.  Last year 12,000 people from many different churches gathered in Stormont Estate, joining with an estimated 200 million people from 156 nations around the world.    Background and vision for the Global Day of Prayer can be found at www.globaldayofprayercom.

MOURNE INTERNATIONAL WALKING FESTIVAL 2006

The Mourne International Walking Festival is an annual event held within the Mourne Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, an area hotly tipped to become the first National Park in Northern Ireland.  Now into its ninth year the event will be based in the Percy French, Newcastle, Co Down and offers routes between 10-40km.  The event is affiliated to the IVV and attracts a wide range of participants.
