>   PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK

We will remember in our prayers the office bearers and members of the Congregational Committee.

>   PRAYER FOCUS: INDIA

There is concern about the safety of minority communities in the remote Dang District of Gujarat.  This area is home to largely uneducated tribal peoples, many of whom are Christians.  Fears are widespread that during the Hindu festival of Shabri Kumabh Mela, which is taking place in Dang District over this weekend there will be extreme pressure on Christians (and other minority non-Hindu peoples) to convert to Hinduism; and that the festival may result in increased violence, against Christians in particular.  Persecution of Christians is not new to this district.  In 1988, violence erupted, churches were destroyed and Christians were told not to meet together in Worship.  Pray for those who are working hard to ensure that this festival goes ahead without any violence or harassment against minorities in the area.
