>   PRAYER FOCUS: EMERGENCIES IN ASIA & AFRICA

In the aftermath of the recent Asian earthquake and with severe (and growing) food shortages in a number of countries in Africa, the Board of Mission Overseas has endorsed the launching of a special church-wide appeal to fund emergency relief, rehabilitation and longer-term development in crisis-hit countries in both continents.  This special appeal will be officially launched by the Moderator and details will be available soon as to how individuals and churches can contribute to the appeal.  Monies contributed to this fund will be channelled through our aid and development partners, Christian Aid and Tearfund, and partner churches in countries affected.  Pray for all those directly affected by these emergencies.

>   P.W.A. MEETING

Tuesday 18th October, 7.45pm: Coffee Party & Bring and Sale.

>   CHRISTIAN AID CO-ORDINATOR REQUIRED

The church needs a volunteer to co-ordinate the collection at Christian Aid Week each year in May.  This involves recruiting collectors, distributing envelopes to them, and counting and banking the donations.  If you feel this is something you could do please contact Heather Carson, 9071 5451 and she will advise you on the work involved.

>   HELP NEEDED

Our Youth Club is continuing to grow with over 195 young people attending on the opening night and our success means we need more help.  We would therefore like to invite anyone who would be willing to become a helper - perhaps once or twice a month - to contact the Leader in Charge, Trevor Long, or any of the other leaders.  You’re assistance might simply be to supervise the perimeter of the halls grounds or serve behind the Tuck Shop.  The Club meets most Friday evenings from 7.30 to 10.00pm.

Trevor can be contacted on 9071 0012.

>   PRAISE GROUP PRACTICE

Sunday 23rd October, 3.15pm in the Minor Hall.  We were delighted to have some new members join us last month but there is still room for plenty more so why don't you come along and join us?

>   CAR PARKING

Please note the PSNI has asked us to make our church members aware that it is very important NOT to park too close to the junction of Old Cavehill Road and North Circular Road on a Sunday morning as this can obstruct the view of motorists coming out of the Old Cavehill Road junction.
