CHURCH HALLS HEATING APPEAL

The Ekenhead Memorial Halls built in the 1930’s, apart from replacing the boilers and burners in 2001 the pipe-work relating to the heating system goes back to when the halls were built.  At the beginning of this year a significant water leak from the heating system was detected and this resulted in half of the system having to be isolated and leaving most of the rooms with greatly reduced or no heat at all.  The MOP Committee has taken the decision to carry out a total replacement of the existing pipe-work.

Many of us have inherited this building from previous generations and from older members of the congregation who paid for its erection.  It’s now our turn to carry the burden.  This is a challenge which is not beyond our capabilities.  Together we can do it, so let us accomplish it with thankfulness and joy. Leaflets and envelopes have been delivered to each family in the congregation, please give generously. Envelopes should be placed on the offering plate.

PRAYER FOCUS: KENYA

On Sunday evening, 11th June, a gang broke into the home of Andrew and Clerah Clenaghan in Zombe, Kenya.  Clerah was at home with Matthew her son, and she was physically attacked and beaten by the robbers.  They stole a small sum of money and other personal possessions, but failed in their attempt to steal the vehicle parked outside the house.  During the attack Andrew was not in Zombe and Matthew was in his bedroom and was not physically harmed.  Within hours of the attack, Clerah and Matthew were air-lifted to Nairobi where Clerah received medical treatment for her injuries which are external cuts and bruising.  She was not admitted to hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.  The family are together in Nairobi.  Pray for the whole family as they come to terms with what has happened, for decisions concerning the future and for the Kenya police as they seek to apprehend and bring the robbers to justice.

CRECHE

Please note the following new arrangements for Creche:

During July and August the crèche will be held in the choir room with the Children’s Church.  Parents should bring young children to church for the first part of the service, going out to the choir room at approximately 11.20am.  These changes have been made necessary due to the work on the halls heating system which is being untaken during July and August.
