Derek Roulston has been busy having lots of meetings with all the relevant bodies regarding the building of a bridge across the Galana river and building new dormitories for the school in Galana.  Pray for wisdom in deciding the most suitable location to be established for the bridge and also give thanks that all the Roulston family (Derek, Linda, Laura-Jane, Amy and Joshua) are in good health.

UNITED APPEAL : HOME MISSION OFFERING : MAY 2007

“Aiming to ensure that every person in Ireland has the opportunity to hear the Good News, congregations are encouraged and resourced, inner city outreach is helped and deaconesses and full time Irish Mission workers supported.”

^   HOW TO FILL A BOX FOR PRESCHOOL CHILDREN IN  MALAWI.

Diane Cusick a PCI missionary working in the Livingstonia Synod would welcome boxes containing material for use in preschools throughout Mzuzu.  List of materials required to fill a box (books/crayons/posters etc)  available in the church porch – please take a copy home today.

 

^   BOARD OF YOUTH AND CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

     “Learning to be an Effective Parent”

The Board is holding a seminar for parents and youth workers on Thursday 24th May at 7.30pm in Carnmoney Presbyterian Church.  The evening is designed to encourage parents and youth workers in their roles, giving them practical advice on how to communicate effectively with teenagers and guide them through these difficult years!  The keynote speaker at the event is MARV PENNER, Director of the Canadian Centre of Adolescent Research  and chairman of the Youth and Family Ministry Department at Briercrest College and Seminary in Saskatchewan, Canada. With 34 years of experience in youth ministry, he has written several books, including, ‘Help, My Kids are Hurting’, ‘The Youth Worker’s Guide to Parent Ministry’ and ‘Creative Bible Lessons in 1 & 2 Corinthians’.

^   THEOLOGY OF PEACE BUILDING: THURS 31ST MAY, 8PM UNION COLLEGE CHAPEL

This seminar will consider the Biblical basis of peacemaking and is aimed at all lay people interested in this subject.  A joint initiative of the youth & adult levels of the PCI Peace & Peacemaking Programme.

The congregation is invited to a new-style Tuesday evening (7.30pm) discussion event which is designed to encourage participation.  There will be more details later, but the topic this year is “Presbyterian Talk Education”.  This evening is open to everyone and will help the Education Board reflect the Church’s concerns in the rapidly changing education scene.
