A very warm welcome is extended to Mr Scott Woodburn and Rev. Joe Dallas and to all who have joined us for worship today.   Visitors are asked to sign the Visitor’s Book in the porch and introduce themselves to the Ministers or any of the Elders after the service.  Anyone who wishes to join the congregation is requested to fill in a yellow card which can be found in the church pews and return it to one of the Ministers.

>   TODAY, SUNDAY 23rd October 2005

Committee members and helpers please arrange to collect Presbyterian Orphan Society literature and envelopes for distribution to members of the congregation from the church porch.

3.15pm   Praise Group Rehearsal in the Minor Hall. We were delighted to have some new members join us last month but there is still room for plenty more so why don't you come along and join us?

>   WEDNESDAY PRAYER MEETING

A prayer meeting is held each Wednesday evening to pray for guidance at this time of vacancy.  Room A at 7.00pm.  Everyone welcome.

>   PRAYER FOCUS FOR THE WEEK

We will remember in our prayers the Men’s Fellowship.

>   EARTHQUAKE PAKISTAN – FOOD CRISIS AFRICA

     Moderator’s Special Appeal:

Contributions to the above appeal will be taken over the next 3 Sundays with the last date for receipt, 13th November 2005.  Please mark the envelope, “Moderator’s Special Appeal or Earthquake/Food Crisis Africa” together with your name, amount and Freewill Offering number to assist with Gift Aid claim where appropriate.  Cheques should be made payable to Rosemary Presbyterian Church.

Church House will then channel these monies through our partners in relief and development, Tearfund and Christian Aid.

>   PRAYER FOCUS: MALAWI

A detailed survey of the catchment area of David Gordon Memorial Hospital (DGMH) revealed that 5,000 families are now short of food and will require food aid.  This corresponds to about 25,000 people, nearly half the catchment population. DGMH hope to be able to provide some relief through the hospital but estimate that they will need £13,000 to do this.  The hospital has started buying maize and will buy beans.  They also hope to give out starter packs of seeds and farming implements, as well as training in food production and storage, to try and prevent this problem reoccurring.  Hospital staff are seeing malnourished children at the outreach clinics, but there are not yet many cases in the wards, probably because people have no money to pay hospital bills.  Pray that people will see that the hospital staff want to help them and that they will seek help early while it is relatively easy to correct the malnutrition, rather than waiting until it is too late.  Pray also for hospital staff members who will have to work very hard to distribute the food.

>   CHRISTIAN AID CO-ORDINATOR REQUIRED

The church needs a volunteer to co-ordinate the collection at Christian Aid Week each year in May.  This involves recruiting collectors, distributing envelopes to them, and counting and banking the donations.  If you feel this is something you could do please contact Heather Carson, 9071 5451 and she will advise you on the work involved.

>   OCTOBER SUNDAY SERVICES

30th    11.00AM      GUEST SERVICE: Rev Colin Morrison

                6.30PM      Evening Worship

>   OVERSEAS' MISSION OFFERING

This is urgently needed to support the missionary activities of the church in Ireland and overseas.  We would ask you to please support this appeal as you have done in the past.  Each family will have received an envelope (additional envelopes available in the church porch) and this should be placed on the offering plate.  Thank-you.

>   HELP NEEDED

Our Youth Club is continuing to grow with over 195 young people attending on the opening night and our success means we need more help.  We would therefore like to invite anyone who would be willing to become a helper - perhaps once or twice a month - to contact the Leader in Charge, Trevor Long (90710012), or any of the other leaders.  You’re assistance might simply be to supervise the perimeter of the halls grounds or serve behind the Tuck Shop.  Club meets Friday evenings from 7.30 to 10.00pm.

>   CAR PARKING

Please note the PSNI has asked us to make our church members aware that it is very important NOT to park too close to the junction of Old Cavehill Road and North Circular Road on a Sunday morning as this can obstruct the view of motorists coming out of the Old Cavehill Road junction.
